This position leads the strategic planning and development of all application development operational systems/technologies/processes to support both the TruStage and Wealth Management business units. This position will coordinate and plan the direction of multiple systems/technologies and operational processes in order to optimize the effective delivery of products, customer service, contract administration, and marketing plans.
TruStage is a $1B business selling insurance products such as Life, AD&D, Health, and Auto/Home insurance products to members of credit unions. Wealth Management is a $250M business which manufactures and administers a variety of Annuity products and operates a brokerage service. This role is responsible for the technology utilized to develop and administer the Life, AD&D, and Annuity products sold through these business units. To support the significant business growth and technology investment expected over the next few years, we are seeking an uncommon professional to join our team as an IT Director - Life and Health Products.

Responsibilities:
Application Development Project and Systems Execution: 20-30%
oManagement, development and maintenance of a portfolio of systems/technologies/processes. Responsible for running/maintaining the systems/technologies/processes according to agreed upon Service Level Agreements with the Business Owners and delivering agreed upon enhancements within a defined budget.
oServe as the overall program manager for technology projects. Serve as the single point of coordination for all development initiatives requiring the Business Area s systems support. This person works very closely with IT business partners and the leadership roles in the Business Area's Leadership Team to ensure an effective project management process that establishes clear priorities and execution of business plans. Responsible for overall execution of Business Area's projects. Project Managers may or may not direct line report to this individual, but for the purpose of the project will. Develop, maintain and monitor executive reporting to demonstrate quality execution, financial results in terms of delivering within budget and achieving the defined business benefits. Ensure that corporate project management processes are followed.
Application, Data and Technical Strategy: 10-20%
oPrimary management of the Business Area's data in order to support consolidated reporting information including but not limited to: member information from credit unions, member information from various disparate policy, claims and contact management systems. This position will play an integral role in maintaining the quality assurance, compliance with regulatory requirements of member information to maximize CMG relationships with these members and business clients.
oOwns Application or technology portfolio within Business Area or the Company. Responsible for developing an Application/technology/process strategy and for long-term planning of the systems/technical portfolio. Develops 3-5 year roadmap, driven by high value business initiatives and long-term IT strategies. Communicates direction clearly with Business and/or company leaders and uses strategy as a roadmap for systems to be used for each business initiative.
Business Leadership and Customer Relationship: 30-40%
oWork/consult with appropriate business area strategists in the development of their strategies and ensure processes are designed with sufficient flexibility to support all business plans. Act as a change agent ensuring our infrastructure is able to support our company and business area direction. This position is responsible for influencing business strategies and ensuring systems/technologies and operations processes can meet the ever changing financial services environment.
oSupervise relationships with service providers to ensure CUNA Mutual Group gets the best possible value.
oResponsible for the quality and accuracy of our Business Area/Company initiatives in order to maximize revenue growth and ensure that the Business Area s/Company s services and products are viewed as high quality programs by credit unions and their members.
oProactively work with Business/Company leaders, understand their business plans to help craft their plans into projects. Act as Business advocate to gather ideas across the Business Area, help them determine what can be done and bundle appropriate initiatives to deliver the most value.
People Leadership: 20-30%
oPerform in a Resource Management function. Obtain and provide resources for projects based upon priorities. Deliver the right skilled resources to business area initiatives, balanced with the right growth opportunities for our people.
oProvide leadership to the Development/Technical Group staff. Build and maintain a set of highly skilled Project and Systems Managers, Team Leaders, Business Analysts, Systems Development analysts and Infrastructure Technology specialists.
Job Requirements:
oBachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Information Technology required. Advanced degree desirable.
o10 years progressively more responsible managerial experience in an Application Development related field
oDemonstrated knowledge sound business practices, data stewardship, business analysis, and operations management.
oDemonstrated ability and experience in developing and maintaining vendor relationships and contract negotiations. Experience working with offshore and outsourced resources.
oLife insurance experience highly desired. Experience implementing new technologies to support the sales and service of life insurance and other financial products through contact center, face-to-face, direct write, and web channels. Change agent with a focus on process and customer experience.
oDemonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, and group facilitation skills.
oAbility to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish business objectives. Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven track record in driving measurable improvement and motivating a team
oDemonstrated effective analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to translate business plans and solution group objectives into effective action plans that deliver positive employee and credit union experiences.
oStrong relationship builder, business partner, collaborator, and thought leader. Must be able to work across multiple business areas and IT teams. Individual should be energetic, proactive, positive, and display a can-do attitude with a sense of urgency.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
