Company Description
Where did the Tenenbaum's name come from?
If you're from the Waverly community you may have wondered where the "Tenenbaum's" name comes from. Many believe it's the last name of the owners, but this is not the case! Before the Rasmussen family acquired the store in 1959, it was owned by the Tenenbaum family. The Tenenbaum family had two stores. One located at the current Waverly location and another in Waterloo.
Upon returning from WWII, the late Bob Rasmussen under the GI bill attended a watch making school in Kansas City. After completing school, Bob worked for the Tenenbaum family. In 1959, the Rasmussen family bought the Waverly store from the Tenenbaum's family and kept the name.
Since 1959, the Waverly location has remained downtown on East Bremer Ave in Waverly, IA. Throughout the years the store has undergone three remodels, with the recent remodel in fall of 2015. Since 1959, the store has stayed in the Rasmussen family and is now a third generation full-service jewelry store. Today, Tom and Ryan Rasmussen manage the store.
